Customer-first guidance
Simple explanations without hidden or unsupported claims.
1. Seller responsibility
Sellers must ensure that every listing is accurate, complete, lawful, safe and not misleading.
- ✓Accurately state the title, description, specifications, features, condition, images, videos, brand and model.
- ✓Keep stock, price, package contents, safety information and return or replacement conditions current.
- ✓Never advertise a warranty, approval, quality, feature or benefit that does not genuinely apply.
2. Required warranty type
Every listing must show one warranty type before purchase.
VikiniMataEtha Warranty
Provided or administered by VikiniMataEtha.
Seller Warranty
Provided and fulfilled by the verified third-party seller supplying the product.
Manufacturer Warranty
Provided by the manufacturer, authorised distributor or authorised service network named in the listing.
No Additional Commercial Warranty
No separate voluntary commercial warranty is offered beyond rights or remedies available under applicable Sri Lankan law.
3. Seller Warranty obligations
A seller advertising Seller Warranty remains primarily responsible for performing that promise.
- ✓State the period, coverage and important exclusions clearly, and keep service and contact details current.
- ✓Respond within a reasonable period and cooperate with any required product inspection.
- ✓Provide repair, replacement, refund or another applicable remedy under the advertised terms and law.
- ✓Keep adequate records and never shorten or withdraw the advertised warranty after sale.
4. VikiniMataEtha's role in Seller Warranty
VikiniMataEtha provides the marketplace and may facilitate a claim without replacing the seller's primary commercial-warranty obligation.
- ✓We may receive claims, collect customer evidence, contact the seller and track progress.
- ✓We may facilitate dispute resolution, escalate non-compliance and restrict sellers when appropriate.
- ✓Nothing here removes responsibilities or consumer rights imposed by applicable law.
5. Claim cooperation
Sellers must cooperate with legitimate claims submitted through VikiniMataEtha and must not delay, ignore or obstruct them.
- ✓Provide requested order details, serial numbers, photos, videos and inspection information.
- ✓Preserve communication, repair and service records and proof of any replacement or refund.
6. Prohibited practices
Misleading, unsafe or fraudulent marketplace conduct is prohibited.
- ✓No fake warranties, false periods, undisclosed warranty fees or changes after sale.
- ✓Do not describe an unofficial warranty as a manufacturer or authorised-service warranty.
- ✓Do not sell counterfeit or unsafe products, or misrepresent used, repaired or refurbished goods as new.
- ✓Do not reject a valid claim merely because the product was purchased through VikiniMataEtha.
7. Marketplace enforcement
Depending on seriousness, history and law, VikiniMataEtha may take proportionate action.
- ✓Warnings, listing suspension or temporary privilege restrictions.
- ✓Holding eligible settlements where lawful and appropriate, account suspension or permanent removal for serious offenders.
- ✓Serious safety or fraud matters may be referred to competent authorities when required.
8. Seller information
Seller records must be complete, current and suitable for customer service and enforcement.
- ✓Maintain the seller or business name, registration information where applicable, and current contact details.
- ✓Maintain a service or return address, warranty contacts and authorised service-centre information where applicable.
